New Year's Eve

I've always hated New Year's Eve. So much pomp and circumstance for a day on the calendar. I'm not big into resolutions and I really hate driving when I'm afraid everyone else is drunk. When I was in high school and college I always tried to find a babysitting job for New Year's Eve so I had a good excuse not to go out. Now my excuse is a very sweet little toddler who I would rather spend the evening with anyday! This year we had a crab and shrimp boil...delicious!

Jack Daniels

While my parents were here we went to Lynchburg and took a tour of the Jack Daniels Distillery after a great lunch at Miss Mary Bobo's. Adam and I have never been on this tour and it was great! Our tour guide was hilarious and we had a great time! My dad is a Squire of the distillery (I think that means he owns one square inch of the property) and I found him a great birthday present!
We ordered one of these for my Dad for his birthday...he sent me a picture of his, but I can't find it at the moment.

Christmas Dinner

This year I was actually off for Christmas. However, I still had to work the 23rd, the 26th, and the 28th which made traveling impossible. Thankfully both my parents and Adam's parents decided to come to us! It was so much fun having everyone at our house. Adam fried a turkey! It was so cold he had the chiminea fire going to stay warm. Everytime someone opened the door from the garage to the house it sucked the smoke into the garage and set off all the smoke detectors in the house. Good times. No worries though, dinner was great and since I've decided to live my life ONLY for the good stories, it was worth it!

Christmas Morning 2010

Sophie got incredible presents including Buzz Lightyear, Golf clubs, a BIKE, all the Disney Princesses' shoes (a huge hit), books, puzzles, dry erase cards for ABCs, numbers, shapes, clothes...etc, etc, etc. She loved everything!

3D

My 3 year old enjoys 3D movies more than I do...what's wrong with this picture? And YES she has her own 3D "eyesies" in pink.

Nashville Christmas Parade

We decided to take the girls downtown for the Nashville Christmas Parade this year. We started off with a miserable dinner at Demos' Steakhouse. Miserable only because Adam accidentally told them the wrong number of people and we had to cram all 5 of us into a very small booth, or wait up to an additional 45 minutes. Then Sophie and Josie were both losing their minds. The food was good...the rest was just sort of comical. Wendy ended up packing her food to go...once she did that, Josie was ready to eat! Of course! Sophie ended up eating all my spaghetti and wouldn't touch her macaroni and cheese so I had to eat her food or go hungry. The macaroni and cheese was actually very good!

Then we went to the parade. Wendy remembered to bring Josie gloves...which was great...until Sophie decided she needed some too, and we forgot hers. So Wendy loaned Sophie her gloves...I don't know why I thought it was so funny, but it just was. She acted like her hands just didn't work. The parade ended up being the longest parade in the history of the world and we finally gave up and left before Santa arrived. Either way it was really fun and more great memories!

This Dinner Conversation is FASCINATING...

Sophie is a good sleeper, as long as she is in her bed. She definitely did not inherit my "excellent sleeper" gene. I was famous when I was little for falling asleep just about anywhere. Put me in the car, asleep by the end of the street. Riding on the boat, out like a light. Even now I can fall asleep going 80 mph in an ambulance with the lights and sirens going. It's really quite a talent. Sophie on the other hand has been known to ride for 14 hours in the car with one 20 minute nap. I cannot complain since she is such a great sleeper in her bed, but up until recently she would not even fall asleep cuddled up in our laps! Anyway, here are pictures from the first time Sophie fell asleep at the dinner table! So sweet.
