Like I said...

Literally the day I posted all Sophie’s new firsts…she pulled herself up to a standing position in her crib. Now she greets me that way every time she gets up! My other favorite thing she is doing right now…she crawls around the floor laughing at seemingly nothing. I don’t know if she is happy because she can get where she wants to go or what, but it is funny. Her laugh is this belly laugh that sounds like she is clearing her throat, it makes me laugh every time I hear it!

Good-bye McCollisters

Some of our old neighbors and friends are moving to Boston. We had a cook-out at our house to say good-bye! They will be missed!

First Father's Day

Here are pictures from Adam and Sophie’s first Father’s Day…and yes I do believe she is wearing the same outfit she wore on Mother’s Day…complete coincidence. The last picture is of one of Adam’s presents, the silhouette on the t-shirt is Sophie.

Mommy of the year...or not

I must apologize for being so neglectful at keeping everyone updated on Sophie’s firsts. But I swear, she does something new and exciting every single day…I can barely keep up myself! So here are her latest tricks. I’d prove it with video, but well…Adam is too busy trying to make his old iPaq into an IPhone to show me how! :0
1. She crawls forward…quickly!
2. She can stand unassisted for about 20 seconds, it’s actually quite amazing she even corrects herself when she starts to lose her balance.
3. She has almost mastered her “survival float” at swimming…she is 2 weeks ahead of schedule!
4. She is eating table food, almost exclusively (except when we are too lazy and raid the leftover baby food). Including grilled cheese!
5. She laughs out loud about almost anything…especially her newfound mobility.
6. She sits up in her bed and plays before going to sleep and after she wakes up. Most days I get her up because she is playing and laughing in her bed…not because she is crying.
7. She gives ooey gooey open mouth cheek kisses. She will pull your face to hers and kiss you and then turn her cheek so you can kiss her. I melt every time! It is the cutest thing and she gets so excited!
8. On Father’s Day (no joke) she woke up saying “Dada” and proceeded to say it ALL day long (not necessarily in reference to Adam…but for everything).
9. She has figured out how to make her learn and groove table play the ABC song over and over and over so she can dance. It doesn’t matter what side of the table she is on…she finds it!
10. One day she started drinking her formula from her sippy cup…two days later she is completely off the bottle and drinking from a STRAW. This was my original goal (it’s supposed to be better for their teeth), but I didn’t think there was any way she would ever do it! I was wrong…again.
11. She belly dances. Sarah (our nanny) says it will be her “stupid human trick” when she is older. It is so funny. It is almost like she can’t help but dance but she doesn’t really want to.
That’s all I can think of for now…but I’m sure there will be something new tomorrow. She is more and more fun every day. I was sad when she was 4 months old that she was growing up so quickly…but she is so much fun now I can’t believe I felt that way. I can’t wait to see what she will do next!

Monkey

When I took Sophie to the zoo I couldn’t resist buying her this monkey. I had two very similar to this when I was little and they were my favorites!

My first tutu

Sophie is frantically preparing for her first birthday parties. First thing on the agenda…practice crawling in her tutu. Oh yeah…custom made! I realize it’s ridiculous…but hilarious!

Cake Decorating

As Sophie tries out her tutu, I’m taking cake decorating classes. I am having so much fun!!! I firmly believe that everyone should have a homemade birthday cake…but I need to learn how to make fancy ones! Here is my first attempt, I’d show you my 2nd attempt but it went ugly…very ugly.

The Zoo

My sister and I took the girls to the Zoo for the first time. We wore both of them out, but it was so much fun!
